Shoot-and-release fishing study finds:

Overall mortality of bowfished fish was 87% versus 0% for control fish.

The article explains that practically 100% of fish die when vital organs are hit whereas some fish that are only grazed survive. The control fish that are not shot at all survive. Breathtaking! Very inspiring.

I can only assume that this is a form of modern literature, disguised as science. Very clever. It’s the literary equivalent to invisible or forum theatre.

Title of the study: ‘Bowfishing shoot and release: High short-term mortality of nongame fishes and its management implications’. If you are prepared to pay USD 49.— you can enjoy the full monty. Uncle Google will guide you to the article in question.
